Gis and remote sensing software are both parts of what some people call the “open source movement”. In computer science, orfeo toolbox (otb) is a software library for processing images from earth observation satellites. The orfeo toolbox (otb) is an open source remote sensing image processing software toolkit developed by cnes which aims at gathering a large set of state of the art. [2] otb was initiated by the french space agency (cnes) [2] in 2006. And this collection of 10 free open source remote sensing software packages.
